Estra and Consiag acquired 100% of Bisenzio Ambiente S.r.l., a company specialising in special waste management, holding 75% and 25% of its share capital, respectively.
The transaction marks the conclusion of the process begun in November 2020 with the acquisition of 10% of the company (5% acquired by Estra and 5% by Consiag) and confirms the progressive growth of the Estra Group in the environmental sector, and in particular in special waste management.
Bisenzio Ambiente owns a treatment facility for hazardous and non-hazardous special waste in the form of liquid and pumpable sludge located in the Municipality of Campi Bisenzio (Florence). The facility, which became operational in 2020, covers an area of 5,000 square metres, has an annual treatment capacity when fully operational of 186,000 tonnes of liquid waste a year and a total maximum storage capacity for incoming waste of 1,505 m3.
“The transaction concluded confirms the Group’s close focus on pursuing green sustainability objectives and strengthening of its position in the waste cycle through progressive acquisition growth,” commented Paolo Abati, Estra’s General Manager. “Through this transaction, we are putting ourselves at the disposal of local areas, emphasising the public governance of the very delicate service of managing the so-called special waste.”
Nicola Perini, Sole Director of Consiag and Chairman of Bisenzio Ambiente, commented: “Increasing our presence in the special waste segment means further qualifying Consiag’s role in the local area, increasing plant efficiency and safety parameters and implementing levels of competitiveness in the sector. As Chairman of Bisenzio Ambiente, I can only welcome the public acquisition of the whole interest in the company as a favourable development.”
