Estra Clima, a company of the Estra Group focused on energy efficiency and renewables, has acquired Termas S.r.l., a company that owns a cogeneration plant connected to a district-heating network located in the Municipality of Ancona.
The Termas facility features a plant with three heat generators and two cogeneration systems, for a total installed heat capacity of 19 MW and electrical capacity of 3 MW.
The district-heating network extends to over 4.5 kilometres and serves public and private users, such as INRCA Hospital in Ancona, the offices of Viva Servizi, Ancona Ambiente, Fidel Marche and Ancona Entrate, eight centralised apartment complexes, and over one hundred homes.
The overall transaction — which involved the acquisition of the facility from Credito Fondiario, the acquisition of the contracts for the sale of thermal energy to both public and private end customers, the purchase of the building in which the heat and electricity generation portion of the system is installed, and the necessary non-routine maintenance work on the system to ensure continuity of high-quality service — amounted to over €1 million.
“This transaction bears witness to our direct commitment, alongside local communities, to the provision of strategic services for citizens and to the bond with local municipalities and our shareholder Viva Servizi,” commented Francesco Macrì, Estra's Chairman. “With the Termas acquisition, following, in this same area, the Gas Marca, Gas Tronto and Piceno Gas deals, we are consolidating our position in the Marche Region and confirming the Group's role as a leading energy utility in Central Italy.”
“For Estra Clima — the Estra Group’s energy services company — this is a golden opportunity to allow this important community of key interest to the Group, and in particular all its potential clients, to benefit from its expertise and experience in managing district-heating systems connected to cogeneration plants. This undoubtedly represent an efficient, sustainable way of using energy, while also offering clear management benefits for customers, who enjoy access to the thermal energy they need for heating, while avoiding all the complexities arising from owning and managing their own boilers,” emphasised Riccardo Matteini, General Manager of Estra Clima.
